Let us make the world a better place to live!
FOOD AID
1.1. Problem Statement
Food insecurity is an unfortunate reality for many South African households. Approximately 50 per cent of South African households live under the poverty line and cannot afford basic food stuffs. Although food is a basic human need, majority of people are trapped in a cycle of hunger by forces beyond their control, such as poverty, disaster, epidemic diseases, past imbalances and lack of education.
1.2. Proposed solution
In support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the Foundation provides food parcels & toiletries to old-age homes, orphanage, disability centres and homeless people. The Foundation’s mandate is to develop interventions to ensure vulnerable households have access to adequate nutritious food and other safety nets.
1.3. Execution
The food parcels are distributed to vulnerable households and individuals. The package comprises of maize-meal, rice, stamp, cooking oil, fruits and vegetables, sugar, powder milk, teabags, juice, peanut butter, baked beans, canned fish, sanitary pads and toilet paper. Families in need of food parcels can apply for assistance through the Foundation’s different platforms. Proper screening is made to ensure that there are no duplications of parcels and that the most vulnerable households are prioritised.
